DO NOT USE BETWAY, They refuse to make a simple correction for one of my incorrectly settled bets despite providing 100% proof that they are wrong
I've used betway for years, often I've had issues with them getting results wrong and their support team makes things very difficult. This time it's simply stunning how clueless their "support" staff are. Here's the rundown: On 1/21/2021 I placed a parlay bet on NHL games including 6 legs, all bets were for certain players to score 1+ points, I hit every leg except for Travis Konecny scoring... HOWEVER the day following the game's completion the NHL officially came out and changed the boxscore admitting that Konecny did in fact score a goal... THEREFORE my parlay must now be changed to a win! yay! So I contacted betway's support chat, the first time they said NBD it should be fixed within 24 hours, ok cool sweet. Nothing changed 24 hours later, so I contacted them again, this time they said they are certain it will be corrected within another 24 hours, so I waited again, frustration growing... 24 hours later, nothing solved, I contact them a 3rd time, this time they say it has been escalated to the "traders and settlement team" and that I would receive an email shortly... Fast forward to today, no email, of course. I contact them again, this time completely annoyed and I explain clearly that this needs to be resolved now, THIS TIME they say after contacting the settlement team they have determined that Konecny in fact DID NOT SCORE! They send me a link to the game's boxscore... ITS THE WRONG GAME, THEY SENT ME A LINK TO A GAME THAT HAPPENED ON THE 23RD, DESPITE MY BETSLIP MAKING IS VERY CLEAR THE BET WAS FOR THE GAME ON THE 21ST... I go back and forth with the support explaining with clear facts and links and they continue to deny that the bet was placed for the 1/21/2021 game despite it being listed in my betslip. I even went as far as trying to help explain how time zones work and how what time they see isn't the same as the time I see (they kept saying my bet was placed on 1/22/2021 b/c they are in South Africa). They deny time after time, claiming that they settled it correctly based on the results of the 1/23/2021 game. Now after a long fight I'm told they have escalated the case yet again.. I have no doubt that this will never be solved. TL;DR: Betway denies that the bet that I actually won on 1/21/2021 is correct, citing an incorrect game that was played on 1/23/2021. Despite contacting them now 5 times, they have not fixed this very simple error and they continue to claim I'm wrong despite showing proof such as the exact link to the boxscore. They would prefer to make their customer think they are in the wrong instead of having basic comprehension skills and correcting their simple mistake. 17 year old gambling addict looking for help/advice
I am 17 years old and me and my friends started gambling on prolines, which if you guys don’t know is sports gambling. We bought this with our fake id’s, we did it for about 2 months like once or twice a week depending on the games we wanted to watch. All the games needed to be right in order for it to count, so there was multiple times we had 6 games rifht and 1 game wrong and that 1 game could have made us a sweet penny. Anyway, after around 2 months we discovered an app called betway on our phone, it was much easier we only needed to send a quick e transfer to the app and the money was in our account. This app was way better cause we could be on 6 sports game and they all didn’t need to be right in order to win the money. This wasn’t bad, until we figured out that the app had multiple table games that had nothing to do with sports bets. It started off on the obviously rigged roulette table. There was no live dealer it was just the game. After we figured out about this we stopped gambling on sports, and started playing games like blackjack and roulette. We started putting in money on the app 2-3 times a week trying to win back what we lost the previous day . Until we found out about crazy time, a wheel spin game. Then our gambling peaked its highest and we are still on that point. We spend nearly $100 a week on the stupid game. It’s a chain reaction, if one of our friends put in $12 to the app everyone does. It was fun at first but now I am realizes the amount of money I am losing. Also, I don’t know what I would do if all my friends win big and I didn’t put any money in. I think I would go insane and then I would put more and more money in until eventually going broke. Thanks for listening to my story.

Hi folks, long time lurker here, zero time poster. On this rare occasion, I feel as though I actually have something to say. Who am I and why should you care? well, i'm nobody but over the past 7 years I have held bets with every single major bookie that services the UK. All sportsbooks here are regulated so in general you should never have an issue if you are following the rules.
However, owing to the coronavirus in March of this year and suspension of every major sports league in the world, it quickly became apparent to me in communications with them that none were adequately prepared to deal with a situation quite like this. I was curious then to see how each would step up (or not) to the plate given that the majority of their T&C’s were fairly lacking RE: a global pandemic. How much can you really trust the books to do right by you and your money when it’s nut-crunching time. Let's find out!
I had just over £61k of open NBA division futures across 8 of the major UK bookies when the season was suspended. By day I’m a Chartered accountant (CPA for you folks across the pond) and ex-Big 4 auditor so you better believe I kept a paper trail of every correspondence and read the T&C’s of every site back to front. Now that everything has been settled, I’d like to a take a minute j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶s̶i̶t̶ ̶r̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ to write about my experience with each book. Maybe it'll be useful to some of you.
These are the 8 sites in question: Bet365, Paddypower, Betfair, Unibet, 888, Betway, Skybet, William Hill (Notable omissions Ladbrokes/Coral and Betstars)
Bet365 – A+ The gold standard and they simply can’t be beaten. Any bettor with experience knows that they are light years ahead of the competition in terms of well everything.. betting limits, customer service, UI, favourable treatment of their punters. This was one of only 2 books which had irrefutable wording in their rules with regards to NBA futures- “all bet stand regardless of team relocation, team name change or season length". No qualms, the ruling is crystal clear.
A quick chat with one of their agents was all I needed to confirm that indeed all my bets are 100% live. Once the season resumed- divisions were marked as settled and paid out as soon as they were mathematically clinched.
In a gesture of goodwill they also voided all Jazz NW division winner futures and paid out for all parlays which they were a leg of. Spoilers- they were the ONLY book to do so. This was worth over £10k to me and highly unexpected as at best I expected a push. The best book there is, period (and not just because they refunded me)
PaddpoweBetfair - B+ I’m grouping these 2 together because they share the same traders. Another powerhouse duo in the UK. Terms and conditions here were far less forthcoming than for Bet365. No explicit wording regarding the status of suspended NBA futures but reassurances were given by live chat agents that they were in touch with the league to confirm whether NBA divisions would still be a thing. A fair position to take given the circumstances but still significant uncertainty for me regarding the status of my bets.
These were however my fastest bets to settle once divisions were eventually clinched so I give them credit for that. No voided bets and everything settled as is. Communication could have been better in the 5 month gap but on the whole, OK.
Unibet/888 - B Again, grouping these 2 because they share the same traders. No particular wording or clear T&C’s with regards to the status of bets in a suspension but Unibet do have their own forum where you can ask questions. For all intents and purposes I found them to be rather useless. A definite clear line of distinction between the agents answering questions and the traders who know (or don’t know) what’s going on but are unable or unwilling to commit to a clear answer one way or the other.
With no clear T&C’s to cover the situation I understand why they took this line but it was of no comfort to me who had £17k of open bets between them. I was told seemingly every week “there’s a big meeting with the traders to discuss this on Friday” but never heard the outcome or details of said meetings. Definitely felt as though I was being given the run around but hey ultimately these were settled correctly as at the completion of every seeding game. Communication could have been better.
Betway - B Same wording in their T&C’s as Bet365 so I had little worry about my bets being voided. My bets were marked as won as soon as they were clinched but were not paid out until the completion of every seeding game.
I held no losing bets with Betway so cannot speak to whether they voided losers. Chat agents were clueless of their own T&C’s though when I sought to confirm whether my bets were live during the hiatus but on the whole at least tried to be helpful in our back and forths.
Skybet – B- Semi-clear wording in their T&C’s: “If an NBA Division is not completed within the same calendar year, all Division bets will be made void unless the result has already been determined.” No confirmation from their traders what would happen if the season were totally suspended though, just that that they would resort to the ruling from the official governing body. Fine, what else could they do.
Bets were settled on completion of all seeding games. Agent’s again a little clueless or hesitant to confirm or deny what would happen in the event of [insert scenario here] but on the whole, okay. Communication could have been better in the hiatus, i'm sensing a theme here..
William Hill – F Maybe I’m being a tad harsh here but in my experience William Hill was by far the worst of all the books to deal with during this time. T&C’s: “Bets will be settled on the division standings on completion of all matches". What does this even mean? For months on end I was unable to get a clear answer from literally anyone. All matches being all matches of the original 82 game schedule, or all matches of the seeding games?
With hundreds of messages exchanged it seemed crystal clear to me that even they didn’t know or hadn’t decided. On June 14th they ended up voiding all my bets including those which had already clinched by then. To be clear, it wasn’t an issue that these were voided if in fact these were voided in line with their T&C’s. I didn't care how these would be settled. However, the fact that nobody was able to offer any clarity on this one sentence for 3 straight months is ridiculous. Once they were voided then they were able to clarify that actually yes “all games” did in fact mean of the original 82 having having by that point already held onto my money for months longer than necessary.... definitely left a dirty taste in my mouth. Expected better for a book this size. F is for fail.
So overall? fairly positive to be honest. You can trust them all to do the right thing... eventually. The main element that was lacking during the down time was communication. I feel as though almost all of them were caught flat footed- didn't what to do, what to say and how to say it to their players when things first went zerodarkthirty, though even that I can sort-of overlook given the unprecedented situation. There is no doubt though, if your market is available on Bet365 and you aren't limited there's little reason to go elsewhere. This has been my TedTalk. Thanks for attending.
I spent the whole of last week reading up on the AS Roma takeover by the Friedkin Group. What follows is a brief essay I wrote up over the weekend. What do you think?
In 1969, Thomas Hoyt Friedkin, signed a franchise deal with Toyota to distribute their automobile vehicles and parts in the Houston area of Texas. The company was called the Gulf States Toyota Distributors. Three years later, in 1972, the company employed 35 associates and had sold over 5000 Toyota cars and trucks through 14 dealerships. Since then, it has accounted for over 13% of all Toyota sales in the United States across the five states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas. The Gulf States Toyota Distributors is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Friedkin Group, which is now led by Thomas Friedkin’s son, Daniel. The Friedkin Group now encompasses a consortium of companies across many industries - automotive, hospitality, entertainment, and sports. On 17th August 2020, Italian football club AS Roma announced that it had been acquired in a €591million deal with the Friedkin Group. This takeover brought an end to the 8-year reign of the former Boston-based club owner James Pallotta, who took over the club in August of 2012. The investment was made via a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) - Romulus and Remus Investments LLC - a company incorporated under the laws of the state of Delaware in the United States. This takeover meant that the Friedkin Group now owned 86.6% of the club owning a total of 544,468,535 at the price of €0.1165 per share. The remaining 13.4% of the club’s share capital is publicly owned, with the Friedkin Group initiating a mandatory tender offer upon these publicly-owned shares. Stumbling Blocks In the semi-annual Financial Report released by AS Roma for the 2019-20 financial year, the Giallorossi earned €94.641 million as its income. This is approximately €40 million less than this time last year. As for the total costs incurred by the club during this time, there was a slight decrease from last year dropping from €136 million to €123 million. Part of the reason for this loss in revenue was the dissolution of the agreement AS Roma had with their training kit sponsor Betway. In July 2018, the Italian government had passed the “Dignity Decree” - a legislation that prohibits the advertising of gambling logos, forcing the club to terminate their relationship with the betting company. In the first 9 months of the 2019/20 financial season, the Giallorossi sustained losses totaling €126 million, with the total debt at €280 million. This is not a one-off situation either. Roma has been struggling financially for quite some time now. For instance, revenue dropped down €17m to €236m, mainly due to less progress in the Champions League. Television revenue also went down 13% to €145m. So did matchday revenue, which dropped 14% to €34m. The good news is that commercial revenue was up €10m to €55m, and revenues from player sales went up 19% from €320m to €380m. The Road Ahead The revenue highlights show that it’s important for the Giallorossi to qualify for the Champions League and go a step ahead. The 2018/19 revenue of €236m was greatly influenced by revenues directly received from the Champions League, earning the club almost €66m. This was not as much as last year’s revenue though, with Roma earning €98m from the Champions League. This is part of the reason that the Friedkin Group took over the capital-based club. The new Board of Directors includes a mix of astute businessmen and financial lawyers who bring the necessary expertise to run the club. For instance, besides the Chairman Dan Freidkin, the BOD includes people like Marc Watts, who is President of The Friedkin Group. Partner at taxation law firm Salvini and Partners, Ines Gandini also joins the BOD bringing her years of taxation experience into the club. In addition, Professor of legal financial regulations Mirella Pellegrini also joins the BOD, as does Eric Williamson, who is the VP of the Friedkin Business Development Group. There is also on the BOD Benedetta Navarra, who represents Unicredit - one of AS Roma’s creditors. A new Executive committee has also been formed consisting of Dan Friedkin, Ryan Friedkin, Marc Watts, Eric Williamson with Guido Fienga as CEO. Fienga had started working with AS Roma under the Pallotta regime as the Strategy and Media Director in 2013, before being appointed as Chief Operating Officer last year, where he handled the day-to-day operations of the club. He will now be assisted by Ryan Friedkin, son of Daniel Friedkin, who has since moved to Italy and will be running the club’s day to day operations with Fienga. One of the criticisms leveled against Pallotta was the lack of progress in building the much-needed new stadium for the club. This is something that the new management will have to take on. In pursuing the Stadio Della Roma project, they will have to work closely with city Mayor Virginia Raggi - who is known to be on good terms with CEO Guido Fienga. So far, the moves made by the Friedkin Group look good on paper. They will also be getting a helping hand from the Pallotta group until the end of December to sort out their financial woes. The arrival of Pedro and Jordan Veretout will add much-needed firepower to their on-field performances too. Betway refusing to acknowledge an error on their end
Hi everyone, looking for some insight here...is Betway a scam? I hit a bet that was incorrectly tagged as lost in their system, after numerous contacts to customer service (who apparently see the bet I made as a different bet in their system) they outright refuse to acknowledge their mistake. Emailed a “manager” email 48 hours ago and have yet to hear back. The bet in question was a three way home tie(+7) away and the final score was 100-93 I bet the tie plus points and it hit. $100 x 15 so as of now I am out $1500 from Betway Anyone have any insight on how I can get this corrected?
